Network cancels the sketch series; YouTube and Reddit removals follow in 2018.
Million Dollar Extreme, the comedy group of Sam Hyde, Charls Carroll and Nick Rochefort, built an audience on YouTube before moving to television. In an earlier episode that drew press attention, Hyde spoke at Drexel University’s TEDx event on 5 October 2013 under fabricated credentials, and the group posted the video to its YouTube channel the next day.
Adult Swim commissioned the group’s sketch series, “Million Dollar Extreme Presents: World Peace,” which aired a six-episode first season in the summer of 2016. On 5 December 2016 a network representative confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the show had been cancelled; CBS News reported the cancellation on 7 December and noted that the single season was the show’s entire run.
Removals from the group’s other distribution channels followed. Internet Archive captures of the Million Dollar Extreme YouTube channel show it still live on 11 April 2018 and terminated by the 4 May 2018 capture, placing the termination inside that window; no dated report of it was located, so the exact date is not established here. On 10 September 2018 Reddit banned r/milliondollarextreme and associated subreddits, as reported by BuzzFeed News the following day.
