About Not the Bee
Not the Bee is a website published by Not the Bee, LLC, a companion to the satire site The Babylon Bee. Where the Bee publishes invented stories, Not the Bee aggregates real news items, on the premise that some are hard to distinguish from satire.
Relationship to The Babylon Bee
The two sites are separate limited liability companies but share a staff page and each list the other under “Our Sites.” That page names Seth Dillon as chief executive, Dan Dillon as chief technology officer and Kyle Mann as editor in chief. Not the Bee’s own privacy policy carries an effective date of 20 March 2020, the earliest first-party date available for the site and the basis for the founding year recorded here.
Products
The site publishes articles with a podcast, a newsletter, a merchandise store and a paid membership.
Sourcing Note
Most of the previous version of this page could not be sourced and has been removed: the naming of Kyle Mann and Joel Berry as co-founders; the account of the site being created in response to “recurring audience feedback”; the 2020 subscription bundle with shared login credentials and a combined member forum; the 2021–2022 addition of user posting tools, a comment-ranking system and a mobile app beta; the premium tier’s live video chats and merchandise discounts; the description of advertising inventory; and the characterization of the editorial strategy as “monitoring social media for stories involving public policy, campus debates, and technology company decisions.” None of these appear on any page that could be fetched.
