Turning Point USA’s board elected her unanimously as chief executive and chair on 18 September 2025, eight days after the killing of her husband, Charlie Kirk, at Utah Valley University. The organization stated that “Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death”, and the board’s statement framed the succession as planned: “Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests.”
