Biography

Peter Giunta is a Staten Island-based political staffer who rose through Young Republican ranks by organizing campaign field programs and digital messaging for party-aligned candidates. He became chair of the New York State Young Republicans in 2023 and helped coordinate statewide outreach to support Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and down-ballot races.

Political Career

Giunta managed volunteer deployments, fundraising receptions, and candidate trainings for New York Republican organizations. His leadership brought the state federation into national spotlights at the 2024 Republican National Convention and positioned him to seek the Young Republican National Federation chairship. Giunta relied on encrypted chat rooms and rapid-response text trees to keep activists aligned behind his RESTOREYR slate of candidates.

2025 Telegram Leak

In October 2025, Politico published 28,000 leaked messages from a Telegram war room that Giunta created to coordinate his national leadership bid. The transcripts captured him using racist slurs, invoking β€œI love Hitler,” and joking about gas chambers while strategizing about vote counts and fundraising. After the leak, Assemblymember Mike Reilly ended Giunta’s employment and senior Republicans, including Rep. Elise Stefanik, condemned the rhetoric, prompting Giunta to allege the logs had been doctored by internal rivals.
