Tucker Carlson

Tucker Carlson is a television host. He presented Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 until April 2023 and since December 2023 has published The Tucker Carlson Show through the Tucker Carlson Network.

Career Before and At Fox News

Fox News Media’s own announcement of his departure sets out his career in the network’s words: Carlson hosted on MSNBC from 2005 to 2008 and had appeared on CNN earlier; he founded The Daily Caller in 2010 and sold his stake in it in 2020; he co-hosted FOX & Friends Weekend from 2012 through 2016; and Tucker Carlson Tonight began airing in 2016. Before hosting, he had been a Fox News contributor. The Library of Congress name-authority record identifies him as the author of the 2003 book Politicians, Partisans, and Parasites.

In the Delaware litigation described below, the court recorded that Carlson was a Fox News personality who hosted Tucker Carlson Tonight, that he was Fox News Network’s agent, and that the network operated his Instagram account. His programme at the time was produced by Justin Wells as senior executive producer, with Alexander McCaskill, Kelly Earney, Alex Pfeiffer and Eldad Yaron in producing and booking roles.

The Dominion Litigation Record

Dominion Voting Systems sued Fox News Network in March 2021 seeking $1.6 billion in damages, contesting statements made across twenty broadcasts. Tucker Carlson Tonight was one of the programmes at issue; the specific segment attributed to it was the broadcast of 26 January 2021, in which Carlson hosted MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell, introduced him as “one of our biggest sponsors,” and, when Lindell said “I have the evidence” of machine fraud and that Dominion did not want to talk about it, replied “No they don’t.” The transcript is reproduced in the court’s appendix.

On 31 March 2023 Judge Eric M. Davis granted Dominion summary judgment on the element of falsity, writing that the evidence “demonstrates that is CRYSTAL clear that none of the Statements relating to Dominion about the 2020 election are true.” Both Fox motions were denied, and the court sent to a jury the questions of publication by Fox Corporation, actual malice, and damages.

The opinion quotes Carlson’s contemporaneous private messages at length. In November 2020 he told a correspondent that he had asked Sidney Powell for evidence and that she never responded, called her a “[c]razy person,” and wrote that “[i]f you don’t have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it’s a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying.” He texted another Fox News host, Ingraham, that “Sidney Powell is lying by the way. I caught her. It’s insane.” After a Fox reporter fact-checked a Trump tweet about Dominion, he messaged Sean Hannity: “Please get her fired… . It’s measurably hurting the company. The stock price is down.” He also declined on 20 and 21 November 2020 to address a Powell affidavit, calling it “ludicrous.”

Fox Corporation’s own SEC filings close the matter. Its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended 31 March 2023 describes the summary judgment rulings as “unfavorable to the Company.” Its Form 8-K of 19 April 2023 discloses that on 18 April 2023 Fox Corporation and Fox News Network entered a Release and Settlement Agreement with Dominion for **$787.5 million**, and quotes the company: "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false." The 10-Q records approximately$800 million paid in April 2023 to settle that case and a related suit.

Departure From Fox News

On 24 April 2023, six days after the settlement, Fox News Media announced that it and Carlson “have agreed to part ways,” adding: “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.” The final edition of Tucker Carlson Tonight had aired on Friday 21 April 2023. An interim programme, Fox News Tonight, took the 8 p.m. Eastern hour with a rotation of hosts. Neither the network’s statement nor any filing consulted here gives a reason for the separation, and this page does not supply one.

Independent Venture

The Tucker Carlson Show is published by the Tucker Carlson Network. Its own podcast feed dates the trailer to 5 December 2023 and the first full episode to 11 December 2023, and carried 434 episodes as of 1 September 2026. The feed describes the programme as “your beacon of free speech and honest reporting in a media landscape dominated by misinformation” — the show’s characterization of itself, quoted and attributed, not adopted here.

What Is Not Established Here

The previous version of this page asserted that Carlson “built [a] career in traditional print and television journalism” in the 1990s–2010s, that his Fox programme “drew large cable news audiences,” that his content was “frequently shared across social media platforms,” that segments “were widely shared and discussed online,” and that he served as a “bridge between traditional television and digital media consumption.” None of these carried a source, none is measurable as written, and all have been removed. The framing that his career “demonstrat[es] shift in media consumption patterns” and “reflects a broader shift in political media” was an interpretation rather than a documented fact and has likewise been cut.

The followerCount field (“5+ million on Twitter”) is removed: X and Instagram refuse automated clients, so no follower figure could be confirmed, and a stale count is worse than none. The primaryPlatforms field is removed entirely. It listed fox-news, which is a media entry in this repository and not a platform; the YouTube channel could not be retrieved (youtube.com returned an empty body to every request in this session); and no first-party record of an X account was obtainable. The former twitter-x connection, described only as “content frequently shared and discussed on social media,” is removed for the same reason.

Birth year is retained as 1969 on the Library of Congress authority record, which gives 16 May 1969 but attributes that date to Wikipedia; the day and month are therefore not stated here.

Two attractive-looking records were checked and rejected. The Daily Caller News Foundation (EIN 45-2922471) lists a “Buckley Carlson” as a director on its most recent Form 990 — a different person, and in any case a separate nonprofit from The Daily Caller, so nothing about the Daily Caller’s governance is asserted here beyond Fox’s own statement that Carlson founded it in 2010 and sold his stake in 2020. tuckercarlson.com returns HTTP 403 to automated clients, so the venture rests here on its podcast feed alone; no claim is made about its subscription model, its distribution deals, its audience size, or any specific interview it has published.
