Before “by mid-2026 the platform reported roughly 46 million registrations”

After “Bluesky announced that it had passed 40 million registered accounts. Registered accounts are cumulative signups rather than a measure of active use: by March 2026 the platform reported over 43 million registrations, and by mid-2026 monthly active use had fallen to about 10.7 million, well below its post-2024-election peak.”

    Why it was flagged

The cited Bluesky source (19 March 2026 blog post) states growth to over 43 million global users, not 46 million. The body texts 46 million figure is not supported by either cited source and appears to be an inflated or incorrect number.

    What was done

Replaced the unsupported 46 million mid-2026 figure with the sourced over 43 million as of March 2026, and kept the separately-sourced 10.7 million MAU figure for mid-2026 as a distinct data point.

“Bluesky announced that it had passed 40 million registered accounts.”

    Why it was flagged

Flagged as a generic user-count/growth milestone with no stated connection to American political discourse or media, suggesting the entry be given explicit political framing or merged elsewhere.

    Why it was dismissed

The entry body explicitly frames the figures against the post-2024-election peak in active use, tying the milestone to the well-documented post-election migration to Bluesky. The platforms cross-reference (Bluesky) and the categories digital-infrastructure field place it correctly; registered-account vs active-use milestones for a politically significant migration platform are within the timelines documented scope, consistent with similar platform-metric entries elsewhere in the collection.
