This page covers both advocacy movements in the United States over Israel and Palestine. They are treated together because their claims are made against each other and because the same polling measures both.
What has moved, and what has not
Pew’s October 2025 survey, two years into the war that began in October 2023, found:

The asymmetry in the change is the finding. Favourability towards the Israeli people fell eight points from 2024; favourability towards the Palestinian people was unchanged. Pew’s July 2026 follow-up records the same pattern continuing: views of Israelis growing more negative across party lines and age groups, views of Palestinians steady.
Note also that both governing authorities are viewed unfavourably by clear majorities. American opinion distinguishes between peoples and governments here, and advocacy on either side that conflates the two is arguing past the public it is addressing.
Partisan division
The split is one of the widest in American politics. Among Democrats and Democratic leaners, 70% view the Palestinian people favourably against 37% of Republicans and Republican leaners; 55% of Republicans view the Israeli government favourably against 18% of Democrats.
What was removed
The previous version carried a chronology from 2008 and asserted a set of claims about campaigns, organizations and impacts on both sides, none sourced. This is a subject on which unsourced assertions are especially costly, and all have been removed.
The founded field, which read 2008, has been removed. Advocacy on both sides long predates that
date, and no source cited here supports it.
