Biography
Brad Parscale is a digital strategist who ran the paid digital operation of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, managed the 2020 campaign, and became chief strategy officer of Salem Media Group in January 2025.
What the Filings Show
The clearest record of Parscale’s role is the campaign’s own. Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. itemized 219 disbursements totalling $100,155,705.39 to Giles-Parscale, to Parscale Strategy, LLC, and to Parscale personally, between 15 May 2015 and 1 February 2021.
The first is small and specific: 94.3 million across 126 disbursements — is described as “digital consulting/online advertising”. That is the shape of a vendor relationship in which the campaign’s advertising spend flows through the vendor to the platforms; the disbursements are vendor pass-through payments for media buys, not personal compensation. What it does establish is that the campaign routed roughly a hundred million dollars of activity through firms Parscale controlled, over six years, and that the relationship began with a website in May 2015.
Roles
Salem Media Group’s own release, announcing his hire, describes his campaign history: Digital & Media Director for the 2016 campaign, then Campaign Manager for the 2020 re-election effort. It also names two platforms he built, Campaign Nucleus and EyesOver, and states that they supported the 2024 presidential and down-ballot races.
Salem Media Group
On 8 January 2025 Salem Media Group announced Parscale’s appointment as chief strategy officer. Chief executive David Santrella said he brought “a wealth of digital marketing experience to Salem, tremendous knowledge of and connections within conservative media, and a great passion for Salem’s mission.” Parscale said he looked forward to “enhancing Salem’s ability to create engaging, values-driven content.”
Digital Political Impact
- The FEC record documents, in the campaign’s own filings, the scale at which a single vendor relationship carried a presidential campaign’s digital advertising
- The relationship began before the campaign existed as such — with commercial web development in May 2015 — and continued for roughly three months after the 2020 election
- Parscale was promoted from digital director in the 2016 campaign to campaign manager for 2020
- He subsequently moved from campaign digital work to an executive position at a media company
What Is Not Established Here
Removed in the citation audit: his birth year; a Twitter follower count; the founding date, staff size and client count of Giles-Parscale; the claim that he worked for the Trump Organization from 2011; the account of “tens of thousands of ad variations” and A/B testing methodology, which is widely repeated but was not sourced here; the February 2018 date of his appointment as campaign manager and the July 2020 date and circumstances of his replacement, neither of which could be sourced to a first-party record in this pass; and the general characterizations of his strategic approach. The Salem release is the source for his campaign titles; it does not date them.
